Italian irregular verbs
The verbi irregolari (irregular verbs) are verbs which don't follow any precise rule and that have to be learned by heart.
Characteristics of the irregular verbs
The irregular verbs usually change their stems when are conjugated in one or more of the following tenses:
- passato remoto;
- futuro semplice;
- congiuntivo presente;
- participio passato.

The majority of them can be found in the second conjugation (ending in -ere).
Main common features
Each irregular verb has some common features, that is:
- a complete mutation of the stem:
Andare > io vado;
- the change of the stem's vowels:
Fare > io feci;
- the change of the stem's consonants:
Leggere > io lessi.
