Volere is another important modal verb in Italian.
It has an irregular conjugation, and therefore presents many different forms for each tense.
How to use the verb volere in Italian
The meaning of volere is comparable to the English verbs to want. It is indeed used to convey:
- the desire to achieve something;
- a strong will;
- the claim of acting on someone else's will.

The conditional conjugation of volere has a particular meaning. It is comparable to would in English and it is used either to:
1) express wishes and currently unaccomplished desires
e.g. Vorrei un cappuccino, per favore. (I would like a cappucino, please.)
2) offers and proposals in the interrogative form;
e.g. Vorresti venire al cinema con me? (Would you like to come to the cinema with me?)
