Demonstrative pronouns (I pronomi dimostrativi) replace an element in relation to its position in time or space.They agree on number and gender with the noun they refer to.

Questo is used to indicate elements physically or mentally close to the speaker.

Quello indicates elements far from the speaker, physically or mentally.
