The website (www.colanguage.com) provides an online marketplace for language lessons with language teachers (“teachers”).
We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions from time to time for any reason, which shall be affected by posting of the updated Terms with indication of the modification date at the top of this page. Please check this page regularly to ensure that you’re happy with any changes.
Our website allows you to get in touch with teachers to take individual or group lessons to learn a language. It may be that you are a person, a parent or a company. Our service is available 24/7 and 365 days of the year.
You can either find a teacher in your city or meet in person at your home, the teacher’s home or a public place or you meet online via video chat using Skype, Zoom, FaceTime or any other video chat software.
You agree to honor the commitments you make to the teacher via the website. You agree that you will not circumvent or manipulate our fee structure or the billing process. You agree to use good faith efforts to interact with our teachers.
To use our service you have to create an account on our website. For this you need an email address and a password. If you want to delete your account again, you can apply for it at any time. Contact our customer service for this.
Our services are available only to, and may only be used by, individuals who are 18 years and older who can form legally binding contracts under applicable law. Individuals under the age of 18 can use our services only in conjunction with and under the supervision of a parent/legal guardian. In this case, the parent is responsible for any and all activities of the student.
Verification of teachers
We check the qualifications of all our teachers during the registration process. We check their education background looking at their certificates, as well as the personal appearance and motivation to give language classes.
Some teachers completed a voluntary interview in which we further check their qualifications. You can recognize them by the green tick next to their account.
In doing so, we sometimes have to trust the statements of the person, and we cannot guarantee the correctness of the statements.
It is possible that you can arrange a free trial lesson with your teacher. All you have to do is contact a teacher of your choice and make an appointment.
Teachers clearly indicate on their profile whether they offer a free trial lesson.
You can buy lessons in packages of 1,4,8,12 or 24 hours and use them flexibly. Depending on the package size, you might receive a discount.
Language lessons on coLanguage work via prepaid lessons hours. You have to buy a package of 1, 4, 8, 12 or 24 prepaid lesson hours on the teacher profile of your choice. We use the secure Dutch online payment service Mollie. The following payment methods are accepted:

- SOFORT Banking
- Bank transfer
Our payment provider Mollie complies fully with the European Banking Authority’s Guidelines on the security of internet payments and is permanently supervised by the Dutch central bank, DNB. Mollie is listed in the register of payment institutions of the Dutch Central Bank.
In using the website, the services or when making any payment in relation to your use of the services, you warrant that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by the Mollie terms and conditions which are available on their website.
We offer a temporally unlimited option to refund unused lessons. At any time, you can go to the financial section of your account on our website and ask for a refund. Refunds are processed every week on Friday via bank transaction or PayPal.
We protect our teachers with a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel your lesson before it is no cost to you, otherwise the lesson will be charged in full.
Once you signed up and completed your profile, we will check your profile and certificates. If you match our requirements, we will accept your profile. If you want to you can get verified with a Skype-Interview, which will give you a green tick and make you rank higher in our teacher list.
The take a service rate of 15% for the amount that you pay out.
When you teach on coLanguage you are self-employed and take on the role of a freelancer
5. Harassment/Discrimination and inappropriate content
Discrimination based on race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, … and the spread and uploading of defamatory, obscene, harassing, threatening, abusive, racist, deceptive or fraudulent content or content which promotes crime will lead to an expulsion from our platform.
6. Spam, illegal data and viruses
The uploading of illegal data and viruses and transmission of spam, chain letters and unsolicited promotional emails will lead to an expulsion from our platform.
8. Website content and copyrights
The website and all the related products of coLanguage are subject to copyright. The material on the website is protected by copyright under the laws of Switzerland and through international treaties. Unless otherwise indicated, all rights (including copyright) in the services and compilation of the website (including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, button icons, video images, audio clips, Website, code, scripts, design elements and interactive features) or the services are owned or controlled for these purposes, and are reserved by coLanguage or its contributors.
9. User generated content
We are not responsible or liable for opinions and statements expressed in content submitted for public display through our website. We do not prescreen all information posted online. We neither endorse nor guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any such content. You are responsible for ensuring that content submitted to this website is not provided in violation of any copyright, trade secret or other intellectual property rights of another person or entity. You shall be solely liable for any damages resulting from any infringement of copyrights, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights, or any other harm resulting from your uploading, posting or submission of content to this Website. We have the right, but not the obligation, to randomly monitor content submitted to our website through an online discussion forum or chat room, to determine compliance with these terms and any other applicable rules that we may establish, as well as for the purpose of services' improvement. We have the right in our sole discretion to edit or remove any material submitted to or posted through this website. Without limiting the foregoing, we have the right to remove any material that coLanguage, in its sole discretion, finds to be in violation of these terms or otherwise objectionable, and you are solely responsible for the content that you post to this Website.

You acknowledge and agree that our services are provided for the purpose of facilitating learning, not cheating. You agree not to hire teachers to complete assignments, write papers, take exams for you or otherwise do work on your behalf. Further, you agree not to use our service for any purpose that violates the academic honesty policy or other conduct policies of your school, university, academic institution or workplace.
By using our services, you agree that coLanguage is not to be held liable for any decisions you make based on any of our services or guidance and any consequences, as a result, are your own. Under no circumstances can you hold coLanguage liable for any actions you take nor can you hold us or any of our employees liable for any loss or costs incurred by you as a result of any guidance, advice, coaching, materials or techniques used or provided by coLanguage.
We expressly disclaim any liability or claims that may arise between students and teachers. You are solely responsible for your interactions with others and any disputes that arise from those interactions with other users. coLanguage is not obliged but may monitor disputes between students and teachers.
