- When an independent demonstrative pronoun is linked to a noun with a linking verb: we always use 'dit' or 'dat'.
Is het huis groot? - Nee, huis is klein. (Is the house big? - No, this house is small.)
Is de auto snel? - Ja, is heel snel. (Is the car fast? - Yes, that one is very fast.)
Kan ik je het hout voor je tillen? - Nee, hout til ik zelf wel. (Can I carry the wood for you? - No, I can carry that wood myself.)
Ken je de meiden die gister langs kwamen? - Ja, meiden ken ik wel. (Do you know the girls who came by yesterday? - Yes, I know those girls.)
Wie is die vrouw naast je? - is mijn moeder. (Who is the woman next to you? - This is my mother.)
Welke kleur zijn de auto's? - auto's zijn geel. (What colour are the cars? - Those cars are yellow.)
Is het resultaat goed? - is prima. (Is the result good? - This is fine.)
Past de hoed goed? - hoed is te groot. (Does the hat fit? - This hat is too big.)
Pasten de schoenen goed? - Ja, schoenen zaten lekker. (Did the shoes fit? - Yes, these shoes were comfortable.)
De boeken staat in de kast, toch? - Ja, boeken staan in de kast. (The books are in the closet, right? - Yes, those books are in the closet.)
