German course in Hamburg – Learn German with professional structure and flexible delivery

Do you work at the Port of Hamburg, Airbus in Finkenwerder, UKE in Eppendorf, or a research institute near Universität Hamburg?

In many professional environments in Hamburg, German quickly shifts from useful to essential. Meetings move into German. Documentation must be precise. Certification may become a formal requirement...

This German course in Hamburg is designed for professionals who already operate at a high level in their field but need structured, job-specific German.

We follow our internal A1–B2 syllabus, structured into 6 modules per level and 45 situational lessons, each with clearly defined learning goals. Depending on your level, you will work on practical topics such as:

  • Introducing yourself in a professional setting (A1)
  • Handling workplace phone calls (A2)
  • Participating in meetings (B1)
  • Presenting and negotiating (B2).

Professional contexts we support in Hamburg

Hamburg’s economy is shaped by key industries, and our courses are specifically adapted to professionals in each sector:

  • Logistics & Maritime: We focus on negotiation language, compliance documentation, and reporting for those working in the Port of Hamburg or with companies like HHLA.
  • Aviation & Engineering: Training includes technical vocabulary, project communication, and presentation skills, tailored for teams at Airbus Finkenwerder and those involved in offshore wind projects like Siemens Gamesa.
  • Healthcare: We focus on patient consultations, medical documentation, and structured communication for staff at UKE and Asklepios Klinik Barmbek.
  • Media & International Trade: Our program covers formal presentations, stakeholder communication, and meeting participation for teams at NDR or in international trade sectors like Otto Group.

You don’t follow a generic textbook. Your teacher selects and adapts chapters from our syllabus to match your sector, responsibilities, and communication challenges.

The program focuses on measurable progress and fits around demanding schedules, with in-person and online continuity.

How the Program Works in Practice

Your starting level is assessed, and your target level is set according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR A1–B2).

Each participant receives a structured learning plan that combines guided lessons with independent work. The program is supported by our user-friendly portal, where you can track your progress, access materials, and practice key skills.

The focus is practical and measurable:

  • Your teacher guides you with structured feedback during conversation classes.
  • You practice listening, reading, and writing with our portal (with automated corrections on your writing).
  • You receive a personal learning plan with your challenge, based on your progress.
  • Sector-specific terminology relevant to your professional context.
  • Content is adapted to your daily life, work, social, and integration needs.

You’ll practice real-world content simplified to your level, ensuring you build the skills that matter most.

Alongside platform-based practice, you meet regularly with your teacher for private conversation classes.

Your teacher will guide you through your learning path, provide expert advice, and be available to answer any questions, or personalize your lesson materials.

Exam preparation and formal certification

Our courses align with Goethe-Zertifikat (A1-B2) and telc Business German examinations. The Goethe-Zertifikat is structured into four core modules:

  • Reading (Lesen): understanding written texts such as emails, reports, and articles
  • Listening (Hören): audio-based tasks assessing comprehension of conversations and announcements
  • Writing (Schreiben): structured written production such as formal emails or argumentative texts
  • Speaking (Sprechen): oral examination including presentation, interaction, and discussion tasks

telc Business German follows a similar modular structure with a strong focus on workplace communication scenarios.

Preparation within our program includes:

  • Timed writing tasks with structured correction
  • Structured oral simulations based on official exam criteria
  • Exam-format practice aligned with assessment standards
  • Audio-based listening exercises
  • Video-supported speaking simulations

Our A1–B2 syllabus covers key topics relevant to your professional and daily life:

  • A1: Introducing yourself, talking about time, weather, and numbers, daily routines, describing people and objects, and discussing life at home and in your city.
  • A2: Traveling, understanding society and government topics, planning your week, and discussing work-related scenarios like job interviews.
  • B1: Expressing emotions, discussing social life, body and health, education and career, household management, business communication, and negotiations at conferences.
  • B2: Focusing on mobility, housing, professional life, economy, law, event organization, and leisure time, with the goal of improving your fluency in professional and personal contexts.

All teachers are trained to work with our structured syllabus, ensuring that exam preparation follows a consistent methodology aligned with CEFR progression and official evaluation criteria.
