I am originally from Ecuador and hence Spanish is my native language. However, I also speak English fluently because I studied my entire undergraduate program in the UK. During my time there, I also had the chance to work in my university and my role involved working with students from all over the world on a daily basis and help them to develop new skills, engage in extracurricular activities and even helping them to find internships and work placements. I also volunteered in a university society as a Spanish teacher.

My name is Laia, and I am an infant and primary school teacher, specialized in additional languages. This year I have finished my second degree in Early Childhood Education. Previously, I had completed my degree in Primary Education in English. This last year I have combined my studies with a job in the reception classroom of a school. My main aim was to teach newly arrived pupils the official languages of my country and helping them to adapt to their new environment.

In addition, I have been an English teacher and monitor with students of different ages. I can adapt to my students, looking for the best way to individualize their learning.

Furthermore, I did the 120 hours course with TEFL this summer as I decided to delve more deeply into teaching English as a foreign language to help my students in a better way.

Learning Spanish is no big deal now, it´s a huge accomplishment. I´m here to help you to learn this marvelous language as easy as possible. I count on a 10 years’ experience of teaching Spanish. Therefore, for whatever reason – travel, apply to university, DELE exams, speaking to family or friends, work, or love- I will guide you along the way, from beginner to advanced.
First of all, I need to know your goal because it would let me design a plan especially for you to help you achieve it. Generally, we will follow the communicative approach. We don’t just dive right into verb tenses or lists of vocabulary words. Instead, I prefer to teach you the ins-and-outs of the Spanish language in a more different way! If you want to know more about me, I should say I´m studying Advanced Hispanic Studies for a PHD degree at the University of Valencia. I have completed my Bachelors of Science in The Netherlands, and my Masters of Science in the UK. I have thereafter completed my TEFL course in Cambodia and I now teach in Mexico to a kindergarten class for children aged between 4 and 6. We speak and teach English language, conversation, math and reading. I'm aware that every student has their own needs, and know how everybody learns at their own pace. I'd be happy to teach students of all ages at beginners levels the English Language and everything that comes with it. My name is Job and Dutch is my native language.

I can help you with all the basics of speaking, reading and writing. I can also help you pass exams that require dutch, like your inburgeringscursus (NT2a or CNAVT). I can teach students from A1 up to B2 level. Also, I passed for my TEFL for the English language, so there will be no problem with explaining the Dutch language.

Discipline is the key to effective learning. I'm extremely organized, well-prepared for each of my lessons and I will never miss a single class. I have tons of study materials, which I hand out to my students after the class and customize lesson plans with.

Each learning objective is met by the end of the lesson. Grammar and a sufficient range of vocabulary are impossible to overlook, and I value it in my approach.
Dutch grammar can be tricky for non-native speakers. I go over concepts repeatedly until my students get the hang of it.

My Methodology

My classes are normally up to one hour. It's possible to have longer lessons If you prefer this.

So far I have done over 1000+ lessons and gathered sufficient information that is useful in order to pass your exams or to get familiar with the language.

My materials comprise of speaking, writing, grammar, reading and listening. During our lessons we shall cover all of these aspects.

Here's a normal lesson plan with me if you're a beginner:
- Vocabulary (5 min): discussing new learned verbs.
- Pronounciation (10 min): reading a short story and building on vocabulary and articulation.
- Writing (15 min): Q and A sessions where I write your answers down and further discuss sentence structures and mistakes.
- Speaking (20 min): eloquently answering questions which are commonly asked in the exams.
-Listening (10 min): listening to an audio of a short story and answering questions.

The lesson plan varies according to your level of Dutch. Naturally, more advanced speakers focus on speaking and writing.

I always make sure I'm prepared before our lesson starts, so we can start right away and make the most of your time.
