Hello everyone! My name is Paola. I have been a language instructor since I graduated from college in 2005. I studied my high-school in a... bilingual school where French and Spanish were the two languages learned. Then, I completed a bachelor's degree in Languages and Sociocultural Studies in Colombia and recently finished my master's degree in Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies at a Spanish University. As I have had the opportunity to live in three different countries (Colombia, Brasil, and The USA), I have been able to get in-depth knowledge of not only the languages spoken there (Spanish, Portuguese, English) but also their cultures. When you discover a new culture, you get to experience a whole new set of traditions, customs, and norms, and more importantly, a unique worldview that many times introduces you to new cognitive processes. Nowadays, it is well-known that speaking more than one language can provide manifold cognitive benefits and social gains for the multilingual individual. We are aware that knowing several languages can open a door for more and better job opportunities, improve significantly your travel experiences, and boost your brain in incredible ways. The advantages of multilingualism go beyond knowing different languages. Being a polyglot transforms you deeply and make you a different person. I am sure that I am who I am today, in great part, due to the languages I know because being a polyglot has become an essential part of my identity. Thus, as learning a language has become more accessible than ever, I encourage you to give it a try and join me in this wonderful and colorful journey of multilingualism. You will have lots of fun and will learn in a proactive, contextual, and comprehensive way. During our lessons, we will not only learn the language through grammar rules, phonetics, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, listening, oral, and writing activities, but we will also explore the socio-cultural dimension involved in it!
