Hi there, my name is Roberta. I am an Italian native speaker, and a professional language teacher with a DITALS II certification from Siena... University. I live in Italy in a lovely little town called Monate near a small lake of the same name, just 40 minutes by car from Milan. The aim of the lessons will not be learning generic Italian but to learn Italian according to the needs of every student. Each lesson will be personalized and designed to match students’ interests, linguistic level and learning style.Every lesson will be planned around a text, which could either be a written piece, an audio segment or a video that will be used as a focal point for both communication and grammatical study. I will provide students with all of the teaching materials used in class that can later be used for homework and self – study, especially for developing writing skills. My name is Maria and i have vast educational experience in adullts and teenagers ages 12-50 as a supply teacher in London and Athens. My... learning path in teaching started at the age of 18 where i decided to study French Language and Literature. Also, i have followed an online Tefl course for Teaching English to non-native speakers and one year course in General Linguistics. My teaching materials are changing constantly depending on the needs of my student and the weaknesses or strengths that they are facing. Usually, i prefer the method of exposure and self-correction which enables the student to choose his or her way of dealing with his/her confidence as language is an inner way of expression and as a mental process is based on multiple factors. EDUCATION I have been teaching online the Italian language for more than a year. Thanks to this experience, I have realized three things are... particularly important to me: structure, flexibility and relationship! It is important to create a well-structured lesson and, at the same time, tailored to the needs of the student. Lastly, it is essential to create a calm and fun environment where the student can feel comfortable and learn while having fun! I have spent a lot of time teaching in Canada and this allows me to teach in both Italian and English. TEACHING METHODS Even though I propose a plan, the lesson is finally chosen together with the student! Generally speaking, for those who are at an INTERMEDIATE LEVEL, I propose to divide the lessons into two parts: Part 1 = Conversation / correction of errors Part 2 = Grammar / correction of homework For those who are at an ADVANCED LEVEL I propose to bring a conversation topic (an article, a book, a TV series, etc.) that the student wants to talk about.
