Hello, how nice that you looked up my profile and considered taking classes with me. My name is Wim de Vos, and after an active and long career in education, I retired early in August 2023.
Teaching has always fascinated me and always made me happy. I started my career abroad (Canada), where I also picked up my accent in terms of my English. Below you can see (part of) my CV.
08-1983 - 07-1990: Teacher Elementary School and High School; Alberta, Canada
08-1990 - 07-1995: Upper school teacher, Hendrik Ido Ambacht, the Netherlands
08-1995 - 07-1997: Vice-principal, primary school, Rotterdam
08-1997 - 08-2023: Successively: English and LO teacher; several posts in administration and board (and since 2013 again) English teacher at two schools for Secondary Education. Between 2013 and 2022, teacher supervisor, set up and ran Cambridge courses for staff.
08-2000 - 07-2010: English teacher trainer, Gouda
08-2019 - 08-2023: Trainer Cambridge courses, Gouda
Learning a language is above all DOING - interactive, creative, flexible and personal. Practice of speaking takes precedence over grammar, which mainly serves to provide just that bit of structure that is helpful from time to time.
To achieve the above, I mainly use actual situations, my own material, and - of course and above all - you with your input and questions.
