Another one of my very important teaching methods is self-correction and what I mean by that is if a student answers incorrectly I won't jump in immediately and give the correct answer, I would rather give a hint or clue. Most of the time the student is able to answer correct the second time around. This is very important because this is really where learning takes place, when a student discovers the answers themselves. I also believe very much in positive reinforcement, focusing on tasks completed successfully and accurately helps students to stay motivated and builds their self-confidence. Lastly it is vitally important that the vocabulary learned is retained in long term memory and how I do that is by giving the students stories and sentence to write using the vocabulary learnt and by also looking at the vocabulary in different context. I implement all these methods with TPR. I use various media and teaching materials to teach my students, some of which I have created myself such as printouts and flashcards.
