The telc GmbH (The European Language Certificates) offers language proficiency tests for ten different languages. After successfully completing the telc exam, you will receive the telc certificate. There is a wide choice of different levels (A1-C2) per language as well as academic language and professional language exams.
All exams are based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

The telc language tests are offered for 10 different languages:

Where is the telc certificate recognized?
The telc certificate is recognized as an official language certificate in many countries for various purposes.
In principle, the telc certificates can be used in the following cases:
- Admission to colleges and universities
- Public authorities (residence permit, naturalization, public services)
- General proof of foreign language skills

How is a telc exam structured?
The structure varies from exam to exam, as it is of course adapted to the respective level and content.
However, the exams are based on the GER, so you can expect four parts:
- listening comprehension
- reading comprehension
- speaking skills
- writing skills
After completing the exam, you can expect the results after 4-6 weeks.
How is the telc exam rated?
The A1 and A2 exams are passed if you have achieved 60% of the total score. For Levels B1 to C2, you should score 60% of the total score in both the written and oral sections.
If you do not pass the exam, you will receive a result sheet to document your exam performance.
Can I retake the exam?
Yes, you can retake the telc exam as often as you like. However, it is not possible to repeat only individual sections.
How long is the telc certificate valid?
The TELC certificate is valid for an indefinite period. However, most public authorities or universities make sure that the certificate is not older than two to three years.
How to register for the exam?
You can either register online or in writing for an exam.
If you want to register in writing, please print the appropriate registration form and send it to the address given there.
Where and when does the telc exam take place?
You can take a TELC exam in one of the 3,000 examination centers worldwide, including private language schools and community colleges.
The examination centers themselves set their examination dates. Therefore, inform yourself at your preferred location when you can take the exams.
How much does the telc exam cost?
Prices are set directly by the examination centers and vary according to the level and content of the exam. Currently you can count on € 40-€ 140.
How to prepare for the telc exam?
The best thing to do, regardless of content and level, is to get involved with exam preparation early and comprehensively. For this purpose, you can use exercise tests and personal tutoring to prepare you optimally for all four parts of the telc exam.
