I am a professional linguist and teach German, Russian and Japanese. My teaching experience is more than 18 years.
I teach 3 courses related to German / Russian / Japanese : Basic, General and Conversational. I will briefly describe them here.
Basic German / Russian / Japanese
I teach fundamental concepts here, the ones students need to understand to be able to communicate in the language, thus acquiring working experience in the usage of various grammatical constructions, common vocabulary words, pronunciation, listening comprehension, speaking and writing skills. Students usually understand my explanations without difficulty since I speak several foreign languages and can compare their structures.
General German / Russian / Japanese
My approach to teaching GeneralCourse is to enable students continually advance in the language.
Grammar rules are thoroughly analyzed, reading, writing, speaking and listening activities are arranged with increasing difficulty levels.
Conversational German / Russian / Japanese
The goal is to improve student’s speaking skills and listening comprehension. Complicated grammar is not utilized. A suggested list of conversation topics is provided. The emphasis is on the abundance of speaking practice.
I may combine these courses to do my best to deliver my lessons. However, it is the wish of a student to choose which course should be primarily taught.
I would also like to mention that I always correct mistakes when my students speak or write. Correcting pronunciation mistakes is also very important. I put a strong emphasis on grammar. Grammar is complicated sometimes, but if you know it well , you will not make critical mistakes. I have made it a habit to constantly check for mistakes, even little ones, when my students read texts, retell them, discuss them, write short summaries, etc.
