I am Michelle Reece-Herbert from the Island of Barbados. My profession as an Educator is of importance to me as I always try to facilitate the learning needs of students. It is in this context, that I have studied and obtained my degrees/certificates in Spanish with Management BA, CELTA, Classroom Management, Technology & Learning Design MA.
Over the years, I have taught on various ESL/TESOL programmes (blended), and the students range from teens - adults (A1 - C2) from regional and International countries. Additionally, I taught at a few Universities in Colombia, South America as a Language Instructor.
As a Language Educator, I consider myself to possess many traits relevant to such a profession. Among them:- a good listener, having patience when dealing with challenges within the teaching & learning environment, dedicated and an engaging personality.
My approach to the teaching and learning environment is based on the Communicative & Integrative methods. In this regard, students are encourage to utilize their prior/background knowledge and experiences to support new knowledge being received. Therefore, my sessions are tailor-made for the student's needs via the use of authentic & creative materials (eg. photographs, news clips, songs, videos, role-plays, discussions, interactive activities etc.) to reflect real life contexts.
