My name is Nicoletta Gueli, I’m Italian and come from Piacenza, a city which is about 60 km from Milan, in the North of Italy. I have just moved to the Netherlands and I ‘m looking for a position as freelance language teacher.
I graduated in English, Spanish and French at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan) in 1994.
Besides working as a free-lance teacher for private companies, institutions and language schools throughout my whole career, I taught English at University from 2002 to May 2019, and English and Spanish in a state school, Liceo Scientifico ‘Lorenzo Respighi’, in Piacenza, my home town, from 2015 to the end of last school year. That’s why I’m applying for a position as Free-lance teacher of English, the language I specialised into, as well as Spanish, French and Italian of course, depending on the learners’ needs. I’m currently studying Dutch at Da Vinci College in Wijk en Aalburg in order to be able to take the NT2 Certificate as soon as possible. I’m in B1-B2 level course.
I also taught at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza from 2005 to 2015 at the faculties of economics and agriculture; I specialised in Scientific English and Business English teaching, so my know-how in these two sectorial languages is high and suitable for both secondary school and university students. What is more, from 2005 to May 2019, I also taught Academic English at ‘Agrisystem’ Doctoral School at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza; this has given me the possibility to also teach how to write scientific papers and academic publications, as well as CV writing, public speaking, presentations.
Furthermore, I have experience in training students in the most common English language certifcates, such as IELTS and TOEFL, mostly at university; PET, FCE and DELE at secondary school.
From the educational point of view, I took the Cambridge ESOL CELTA certificate in 2005. This introduced me to the wonders of the Communicative Language Teaching Methodology, which I have ever since applied to any course and any lesson I’ve taught, and which has made my teaching pretty effective and motivating for the students.
Having taught languages at many different educational levels and stages, in many different environments, has given me a really broad knowledge of students, both young and adult ones, which, combined with my outgoing personality and empathy, has allowed me, through the years, to build very effective relationships with any of them; this has, in turn, lead to a better and successful learning process.
Finally, I’m a creative person, I’m a quick problem solver, can manage large as well small groups of people; I’m versatile, as in the years I’ve taught to all sorts of students, from nursery , to elementary, middle, secondary schools and university. I’m easily adaptable and always accepting new challenges
