  • Just like in English, Spanish has 3 tenses:

    El presente - The present

    The Spanish present tense is used to talk about what is true at the moment, what happens regularly and what is happening now. Like the English one!

    pronouns trabaj-ar com-er viv-ir
    yo (I) trabajo como vivo
    (you) trabajas comes vives
    él / ella / usted (He/She/you-formal ) trabaja come vive
    nosotros/-as (we) trabajamos comemos vivimos
    vosotros/-as (you) trabajáis coméis vivís
    ellos / ellas / ustedes (they/you-formal) trabajan comen viven

    El pasado -The past

    In Spanish there are two past tenses more than in English!

    Past Tense First person-singular Translation

    Pretérito perfecto simple (Indefinido)

    bebí I drank

    pretérito perfecto compuesto

    he bebido I have drunk

    Pretérito Imperfecto

    bebía I drank

    Pretérito pluscuamperfecto

    había bebido I had drunk

    El futuro -The future

    In Spanish there are three different forms of the future:

    Future tense third person-singular Translation
    Futuro simple bailará She/He will dance
    Futuro próximo (ir a + infinitivo) va a bailar She/He is going to dance
    Futuro perfecto (compuesto) habrá bailado She/He will have danced
