B.A.
In college, I majored in Human Development and Social Relations, as part of which I took classes like Cross-Cultural Psychology, Psycholinguistics, and Human Development. Given my academic background that focuses extensively on culture and psychology, I believe that I am well equipped to adapt and teach in new learning environments.
Expérience professionnelle:
Peer Tutor/Private Tutor
Earlham College; Summer Camp; Self-employed
2017-2018; 2019-present
Richmond, USA; Delhi, India
I graduated last year from Earlham College (USA), where I had my first tutoring experience. I was employed at the college's Academic Enrichment Center as a peer tutor, where part of my responsibilities was to help students with their writing issues. As a writing consultant, I mostly helped students write academic essays, cover letters, and statements of purpose. Aside from proofreading and brainstorming ideas, I would often help students overcome common grammar issues. My college had students from over 70 different countries, and so I would frequently find myself teaching adults who were not fluent in English.
I have also worked as a tutor/mentor in a summer camp where most attendees were between the ages of 8 and 12. One of my main responsibilities as an English mentor was organising and conducting educational activities that exposed children to the language in fun ways. Since it was a summer camp, there was not a lot of classroom teaching involved. However, through the teaching practices of immersion, participation, and exposure, we helped young learners absorb and acquire English in a non-traditional manner.
Finally, I have been working as a private English tutor to young schoolchildren between the ages of 8 and 13 since November of 2019. My primary teaching objective with these students is dictated by their parents, who mostly wish to see their child do well in school. I currently tutor six different students, and usually meet with them one on one for half an hour on weekends.
