¿Cómo se llama (usted)? (formal) | What is your name? |
¿Cómo te llamas? | What is your name? |
Me llamo Pablo. | My names is Pablo. |
Soy Pablo. | I'm Pablo. |
¡Encantado! (male) | Nice to meet you. |
¡Encantada! (female) | Nice to meet you. |
Whilst in English we use the verb to be for talking about age, in Spanish we utilize tener (the Spanish equivalent of to have).
Spanish | English |
---|---|
¿Cuántos años tiene (usted)? (formal) | How old are you? |
¿Cuántos años tienes, Pablo? | How old are you, Pablo? |
Tengo 25 años. | I'm 25 years old. |
While in English the nationalities are written with capital letters, in Spanish they remain with small letters.
Spanish | English |
---|---|
¿De dónde es (usted)? (formal) | Where are you from? |
¿De dónde eres? | Where are you from? |
Soy de Francia. | I'm from France. |
Soy francés. (male) | I´m French. |
Soy francesa. (female) | I´m French. |
The Grammar construction Personal pronoun + verb in English is often changed in Spanish by just a verb without a personal pronoun construction. For example: I live in Paris = (yo) Vivo en Paris.
Spanish | English |
---|---|
¿Dónde vive (usted)? (formal) | Where do you live? |
¿Dónde vives, Pablo? | Where do you live, Pablo? |
Vivo en París. | I live in Paris. |
As the Spanish adjectives vary in gender, we have the word casado (married) for masculine and casada for female gender .
Spanish | English |
---|---|
¿Está (usted) casado? (formal, male) | Are you married? |
¿Está (usted) casada? (formal, female) | Are you married? |
¿Estás casado? (informal, male) | Are you married? |
¿Estás casada? (informal, female) | Are you married? |
Sí, estoy casado. (male) | Yes, I'm married. |
Sí, estoy casada. (female) | Yes, I'm married. |
No, estoy soltero. (male) | No, I'm single. |
No, estoy soltera. (female) | No, I'm single. |
Look at the list of some professions below the table.
Spanish | English |
---|---|
¿A qué se dedica (usted)? | What do you do? |
¿Qué hace (usted)? (formal) | What do you do? |
¿A qué te dedicas? | What do you do? |
¿Qué haces? | What do you do? |
Soy profesor. | I'm a teacher. |
Spanish | English |
---|---|
azafata | stewardess |
periodista | journalist |
fotógrafo/a | photographer |
traductor/a | translator |
cantante | singer |
bailarín/a | dancer |
arqueólogo | archaeologist |
diseñador | designer |
escritor | writer |
Spanish word dirección could mean direction as well as address depending on the context. Here it is used with the meaning of address.
Spanish | English |
---|---|
¿Cuál es su número de teléfono? (formal) | What is your phone number? |
¿Cuál es su dirección? (formal) | What is you address? |
¿Cuál es su e-mail? (formal) | What is your e-mail? |
¿Cuál es tu número de teléfono? | What is your phone number? |
¿Cuál es tu dirección? | What is your address? |
¿Cuál es tu e-mail? | What is your e-mail? |
Mi número de teléfono es 620 44 42 17. | My telephone number is 620 44 42 17. |
Mi dirección es calle Buenos Aires 5. | My address is street Buenos Aires 5. |
Mi correo electrónico es pablo@correo.es. | My e-mail is pablo@correo.es. |
Now we will assemble the previous introducing vocabulary in an example dialogue:
Dani: ¡Hola!, ¿Cómo se llama? Hello! What is your name?
Pablo: ¡Hola!, Soy Pablo. Hello! I'm Pablo.
Dani: ¿Cuántos años tiene Usted? How old are you?
Pablo: Tengo 25 años. I'm 25.
Dani: ¿A qué se dedica, Pablo? What do you do?
Pablo: Soy profesor de baile. I'm a dancing teacher.
Dani: Está Usted casado? Are you married?
Pablo: Sí, tengo un hijo. Yes, I have a child.
Now you can practice these kind of dialogues in person or with our exercises. And don´t forget the kisses in any event!

Hello, Spanish learner! I am Isabel, your Spanish teacher.
I am a professional online Spanish teacher for 3 years. I am a native speaker from Colombia.
My lessons are completely in Spanish because I want you to speak as much as possible. During my lessons, we will focus on conversation and pronunciation. But a typical lesson also contains a vocabulary topic and a grammar topic.
I will focus on your needs and your mistakes to improve your Spanish as quickly as possible. In the first lesson, we will do a level test to check your current level (CEFR A1, A2, B1, B2, C1)
If you would like to improve your Spanish, learn more about the South American culture, gastronomy and traditions, I am your teacher! Or if you just want to talk in Spanish, about any subject you like, I would be happy to meet you online.
Send me a message and I will provide you a 30-minute free trial lesson!
See you online on Skype.
Your Spanish teacher, Isabel

Hello everyone, I am Giulia and I am Italian.
All of my education has been gravitating towards languages, not only because of my strong desire to communicate effortlessly with people from other countries and getting to know more about their cultures, but also for my interest towards the structure of every language itself. Since the beginning of my high school years I have been studying and absorbing grammar and literature of Ancient Greek and Latin. This allowed me to improve my grammar basis and made my passion for it grow stronger. Meanwhile, I was carrying out the study of English, French and Spanish, on my own.
Later on, those languages have been the center of my studies at the University of Turin. After graduating in 2016 in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation, I decided to move to Boston, United States, in order to experience what speaking another language really means and to know more about a new culture. During my stay, not only had I the possibility to reach an advanced level of English, but I also improved my Spanish and, to a lower extent, my French, having the possibility of practicing them daily. In August 2017, I moved to Spain, where I attended a Masters in Intercultural Communication, Translation and Interpreting in Public Services offered by the University of Alcalá (Madrid).
Throughout my education I had the possibility to deepen my knowledge of the mentioned languages, to learn how to translate and interpret and I had the chance to learn more about linguistics as well. I am now fully fluent in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
I am a translator at core and I have been a translator intern for CIDA’ archives in Alcalá de Henares, in Spain, using different language combinations. In 2018, I moved to Portugal, where I have been working for Accenture as a Business Analyst. Meanwhile, I have been translating for YOKO Translate and for WonderWords and I have been working as a translator for private clients. I have also been teaching English for 8Belts, a Spanish company which base its courses on the e-learning. Moreover, I have autonomous students who mainly want to learn Italian, English or Spanish.
I learnt myself four languages my own way, giving importance to the grammar, but focussing also on other aspects which are usually a bit underrated, such as vocabulary and listening. I have myself created games and teaching strategies to help my students get better results, although the method is adaptable to every specific situation.
For teaching, I use some manuals depending on the level of the student, but also personal material I have been collected during the years or created. My method is a mix of standard and original learning strategies and I hope you'll have the chance to join my course and take advantage of them.
I hope my skills, motivation and commitment make me the right teacher for you.
If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration.
Best Regards,
Giulia Genovese

I have been living in Switzerland for 14 years, where I work as a teacher and translator. I am a native Italian speaker. I obtained the federal qualification for teaching adults and also completed a Master's degree in teaching Italian as a foreign language at the Università Cattolica of Milan. I am a teacher of Italian at middle schools in Zurich and also work at language schools. I am a CELI certification examiner.
Learning a new language can be fun! I use a pragmatic, inductive and communicative approach so I can speak without fear. I have a deep knowledge of Italian and German grammar. I also work with authentic materials, comics and videos. Learn Italian also through lessons on art, culture and food and wine! For business Italian courses, I can also devote lessons inherent to the relevant terminology.

You'll make mistakes... so what? We will learn from them, laugh them off and speak better and better.
If you want to learn a language from scratch, improve one you already know, if you need it for work, travelling or just for fun, contact me for a free trial and we'll see what we can do.

Hola, qué tal!
I have always enjoyed working with languages, culture, education and people. I am originally from Venezuela so Spanish is my native language and I have been living in Belgium since 2009. My degree as Master in Industrial Sciences is equated here.
I am a teacher and since 2018 I have been teaching Spanish to adults. I am able to boost the self-confidence of my students. My lessons are for absolute beginners (direction level 1 and 2), intermediate (direction level 3) and advanced (direction level 4). Conversation is also possible. I focus on the four most important skills: speaking skills; listening skills, writing skills and reading skills. And also on grammar and spontaneous communication.
Teaching and language are just my passion and I would like to teach it to others. I work with adults and seniors, but know that every person learns in a different way. Pleasure in learning and daring to communicate are paramount to me: We use Spanish book and workbook; audio material (Spanish songs), card games and more!
Los espero!

ENGLISH LANGUAGE.
I got certified with the University of Cambridge TKT test, developed empathy to students, polished my method, and the last 5 years I have been teaching english in an online environment.
After years teaching online, I can say that the computer screen is not a limitation. I love to see my students thrive in a new language, I develop my own exercises too, My classes are fun, dynamic and interesting to say the least, I believe I have the patience to create exercises and drills for my students and approach learning from a different perspective and overcome boredom, tiredness and lack of discipline.
I work with realia mostly, and I can tell you that nothing is more powerful than things and situations that are personal to a person.
