About me Ciao! My name is Andrea and I am a native Italian with years of Italian language teaching experience, graduated from University of... Rome.  I lived in London and Los Angeles for several years. Then I attended courses for teaching Italian as a second language. I have been teaching Italian language to foreigners for 4 years and it has been very satisfying so far.  Qualifications & Experience Since I was attending primary school until I graduated from University I have always studied both Italian and English languages. They tell me enthusiastically about the successes achieved both at work and in private-daily life by learning the Italian language with me.  Teaching Approach I always try to understand what kind of student I have in front of me, where he/she comes from and his/her age. The way I teach to kids is different than the way I use to teach to adults. I always try to meet the student's needs, guiding him/her gently. If the student needs to know more grammar I start my lessons teaching more rules, following a Structural approach: this means that I would start teaching the language as a complex of grammatical rules which are to be learned one at a time in a set order. Along with that it is possible to do some grammar translations to and from the target language and to practice some Audio - Lingual method (learning through the practice of dialogues of every situations). Only after all this I push the student towards a Direct method, that means that it is possible only to use the target language: the teacher explains everything using the target language only and the learner is not allowed to use his or her mother tongue.  When the student starts to speak fluently I like to focus more on the pronunciation, about the way he/she sounds practising with the student more conversation, analyzing his/her fluency, mental blocks or mispronunciation.
