I am a certified TestDaF and telc examiner. I specialise in test preparation. I offer both general and intensive German language courses, and... specific classes of grammar, conversation, writing, test preparation and interview preparation. My focus is on intermediate and advanced German learners, who need a higher level of accuracy and fluency in terms of exposition, argumentation and self-expression. I had been teaching German at one of leading language schools in Berlin for over six years. I hold a Magister (German equivalent to the master's degree) in Germanistics (German language, literature, and history) from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2001) and a teaching certificate of German as a foreign language from Goethe-Institut München (2010). Before becoming a language teacher, I was a journalist for six years at a local newspaper in Potsdam. Language lessons can be fun, but language-learning is certainly time-consuming and occasionally frustrating. I am therefore aiming at establishing collaborative relationships with my clients to keep them inspired and motivated throughout the journey. Hello! My name is Florentin, I've been teaching German for the last 8 years, working both with groups at university and 1-on-1. Maybe the most... important aspect for me is the atmosphere in which you can be at ease and speak freely without any fear of making mistakes. Mistakes are not only a natural part of the process, but have to be made and will help your understanding. Our class is a safe space where you can express yourself exactly as you do now and ask all the questions you may have. In a session we might do conversational exercise, rehearse an exam, go over your texts together, take a clarifying look into any specific topic you feel slightly or heavily confused about, listen together, read a text of your choice or do grammar exercises, advance your German from the ground up, play some games to get familiar with this language. All these activities that can be fun can also help us see what is needed for you to advance - in your own way and in your own time. We can use my materials and you are also welcome to bring whatever you would like to work with. More about me: I initially started teaching German after a one-year journey through South America which I undertook after graduating from university. During these travels I learned Spanish and subsequently got the task of offering tuition to students at university who were struggling with reading academic texts in German. Thereafter I started teaching all German levels to different groups at university and also to students individually and have been doing so for over 8 years now, in-person and online. I've also been leading translation groups and lecturing on other language topics like language philosophy. Living and teaching German in other countries for several years gave me deeper insight both into learning languages and into my own mother tongue and during that time I naturally adopted the role of a bridge between cultures and languages.
