Medical or general English, test preparation, or Persian language skills by a certified English teacher/ licensed doctor.
I am excited to provide you with a quick introduction of myself. I am TESL Ontario (OCELT) and TESL Canada (Professional Standard Two)... certified. I received my TESL diploma from the Canadian College of Educators, and have received the following TESL related certificates: “Teaching English Online” certificate of “Cambridge Assessment English” and “CLB Bootcamp Certificate” of “Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks”. I am bilingual in English and Persian and have knowledge and proficiency in languages like Dutch, German, French, and Spanish. My goal as a teacher is to motivate and engage my students to learn English, to adapt to their new environment successfully. I help the student communicate effectively. Effective communication helps the students increase their quality of life by acquiring suitable education, employment, and housing. I thrive to help my students succeed in Canada and build their new lives optimally. I use a combination of the “communicative” and “task-based” methodologies in the classroom. I provide my students with fun and engaging tasks, embedding lessons in those activities, to motivate them to take part in the learning process. I believe in group work. I make sure that my students communicate with each other, and with me, during the educational activities that I design for them. This helps them use their language abilities while forging new long-lasting friendships. I believe that motivation, engagement, and communication are three important elements of language learning. I have a diverse educational and professional background. I have degrees in Environmental Engineering and Chiropractic Medicine. I enjoy walking in nature and the city, exercising, playing sports, reading, and writing stories. I am looking forward to working with you to improve your English, Medical English, or Persian language skills. Please do not hesitate to contact me, should you have any questions. Sincerely, Dr. Nick Read more
I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have been an educator in the Ann Arbor area since 2000. That is when I graduated from the... University of Michigan. Later, I obtained a Master’s Degree in school counseling from Eastern Michigan University. In the years that followed, I taught English, theater, Spanish, and spent ten years as a high school counselor in Ann Arbor. Now, I live near Ann Arbor with my wife, daughter, son, and our dog, Pomzilla. We say he is part Husky, part Pomeranian, and part Godzilla! That's how we made his name. I have lived in the US and Spain and have traveled to South America and Europe. Someday I would also love to visit Asia, Australia, and Africa. When I can, I love to go to baseball games in Detroit, Michigan. I would love to talk to you about your own travels! Or we could discuss where you live, your job, your hobbies, your amazing family, your cute pets, or your future plans. My teaching style is fun and I focus more on conversational English. I love to joke and have fun in lessons. I would also love to work with you on your writing. I used to do a lot of creative writing. I wrote and published a poem, two plays, a screenplay, and a novel. If you are interested, check out my website at www.endinginangels.com . If you have material from school or somewhere else we could work on that together. I am flexible and want to help students however I can. I know that learning a new language can be scary. One group I know I can really help are people applying to universities. You DO NOT have to be in this group to meet with me. This is just one area I know a lot about. Harvard! Stanford! Yale! Duke! Northwestern! And my personal favorite, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor! Go blue! I have helped hundreds of my students gain admission to these highly selective universities as well as dozens of other schools across the US and around the world, from Ivy League to less selective state schools to community colleges with open admissions! We can discuss the application process, examine possible essay prompts, write/revise essay drafts, and explore strategies for maximizing chance of admission into universities, and look at financial aid. If you are working on SAT or ACT preparation, I can help you with this too! I helped hundreds of students with their college applications. Many of them would go on to the University of Michigan or Washtenaw Community College in our city, while others went to Oregon, UCLA, MIT, Brown, Ohio State, and many other great colleges. I believe I can use my expertise to help you improve your writing and conversation skills. We can talk about applying to universities, or about your trip to Australia last year, or your apartment in Paris, or your job as a scuba diver, or movies, or your grandmother, or your dog, or your future trip to Mars! I can’t wait to meet you! Read more

Helping people with English has been both my passion and my career since 2011. I will help you improve your English for your next... (international) exam or to get the edge you need to communicate confidently with colleagues and clients from abroad. As someone who has worked with numerous companies, schools, and organizations in four different countries, I understand the challenges and pitfalls that most learners encounter when asked to function in English. From my own personal experience, I understand that language learning is not an easy task for everyone, especially for people with busy lives. If you use English at work, I can help you to quickly improve your communication skills for your next meeting, presentation, or sales pitch. I have helped professionals improve their English for conducting international business, operating in English-speaking environments, attending meetings, giving presentations, career changes, and other personal or professional objectives. My clientele has included professionals from the private sector, EU institutions, and governmental agencies. My experience also involves working with professionals in various fields like law enforcement, military, and border security. Are you preparing for a language exam? Being an experienced licensed examiner, I can help you reach your exam goals. I have extensive experience in helping learners with university-administered exams as well as international exams including Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, and TELC, among others. By focusing on the four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), you can be sure that you walk into your exam confidently. Most of my lessons are delivered using the Communicative Approach to language learning in order to provide for maximum learner engagement. While activating known language, learners acquire new vocabulary, collocations, and expressions in a real-life context in addition to improving fluency. Effective error correction, together with grammar revision, will boost your self-confidence in English and give you the edge needed to meet your communicative goals. My lessons extensively incorporate authentic materials in order to make the learning experience as applicable as possible in real-life situations. Read more
ESL Independent Teacher - Developing\Enhancing the 4 Skills of Language: Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening!
Hello World of ESL learners I'm an experienced ESL, ELA, TEFL and TESOL independent teacher and transmedia writer. I began ESL teaching in... 1990, and returned to the field in 2018. I've a decade of combined teaching experience. My CV is a short read: I've made it a 1-pager: it's concise and comprehensive and I strongly suggest you take a look at it to get a comprehensive view on what I bring to the table as an ESL educator. It's important to stress my approach to ESL instructing is learner-centric, so you may have heard many utter this phrase, but is it just semantics, hyperbole to stand out in a crowded space? Well let me elaborate a little bit on learner-centrism as the core value of my approach to ESL teaching: The banking system of education really came into its own in the post-WW2 world and the west began to slowly eliminate the Humboldtian system from its mainframe. My preference is to mimic as far as is practical the Humboldtian and Classical Liberal Arts systems and I incorporate insights from the rich field of ESL research and development. My experience illustrates that organic modes of learning have yielded the best results with reference to capacity, fluency and confidence. Gardner's 'Theory of Multiple Intelligence Centres' is as influential as the aforementioned educational systems, and I include insights learned from the field of ESL development, research and trends. Today English is to the digital age what Latin was to the 3rd century. It is the Lingua Franca of the world and presents an exciting development in the history of languages and human beings communicating from and to almost every corner of the world. It's a great time to be learning English. There's never been a better time to be an ESL learner or teacher, especially if you're a serious lover of languages and language learning! My library of content contains top tier course materials, e.g. programmes developed by Cengage Learning and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. All my course materials conform to global benchmark standards such as the Common Core State Standards (CCSS-USA), International English Language Testing Standards (IELTS - UK, Australia) and the International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE-UK). My capacities include testing and assessment according to benchmark standards globally recognised such as the aforementioned and also CEFR – Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Course materials are included in the fees. I deliver my lessons via Zoom, Zhumu or Voov: all three teaching/meeting apps enable learners to join the meeting room right from your browser for your convenience Best, Desiree Lourens Read more
