Let me help you improve your English for any purpose. I am a native English speaker with a Master's degree in English, a Bachelor of Science... degree and a CELTA teaching qualification. I have been teaching for four years. As a copy-editor, I have been helping people improve their written English for over ten years (so yes, I can edit documents for you). Interviews: send me your CV and the job description and I will help you prepare. Ready for certification? I will help you get ready for English language proficiency exams (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, OET, C1 (CAE), C2 (CPE).) We CAN meet free of charge (just book a FREE CHAT for 20 minutes) to discuss your learning needs/my teaching methods and to start talking. It is useful if you take a quick online test to establish a starting point: https://www.cambridgeenglish.org/test-your-english/general-english/ Please let me know the results A1/2 B1/2 C1/2. If you need to reschedule, please do so 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged. NB If you are writing a test like IELTS or TOEFL 'in a month or two' and you need to obtain a minimum score to enter a university, remember that according to education bodies like British Council and Cambridge English, it takes an average of 120-130 lesson hours to move from one level or band to the next. So with 'one or two' months, you need to already be at B2 or Upper Intermediate level to start preparing. For B2-C2 level students who enjoy photography: Would you would like to improve your English conversation and your photography? In a typical lesson, you will show me your latest photos and describe how and why you took them. Then we will discuss how photos are assessed in photographic competitions and, if necessary, we can go over the essentials of using a digital camera (although it's perfectly fine if you use your mobile phone to take photos).

Do you perceive English as an obstacle? Not anymore! We will overcome it together by catering lessons to meet your needs, making them engaging,... and addressing topics that deal with real-life situations. I come from the United-States and have been working as a native English teacher for more than 5 years. Predominantly, I have taught professionals who needed to expand their business vocabulary and speak with confidence. I've also taught clients who asked for tailored lessons for an exam preparation such as IELTS. This experience has been enriching and has exposed me to clients from different walks of life. I've learned to create a positive and stress-free environment while always keeping the learner's objectives in mind. Earning the TEFL has reinforced these principles in me and reminded me of certain points such as reducing Teacher Talking Time and being authentic. My method is to first have an idea about your level and objectives. Then we will focus on communicative skills, and we will bring up subjects of your interest while addressing practical vocabulary terms and grammar. Finally, at the end of the lesson, you will be able to use the newly learned terms and structures in a discussion and in your own way. Let's embrace this new challenge! See you soon. Joudy

HI! I love teaching language and getting to know students from all parts of the world, sharing our cultural differences. I'm Canadian and live... near beautiful forests, mountains, sea, rivers, and lakes. Sometimes I travel and currently I am in Europe. I have taught English learners whose first language is Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Arabic, German, French...and a few more. I teach all levels of English and Beginner or beginner-intermediate levels of French. My lessons are designed for your needs and may include reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. It's YOUR lesson, so you tell me what you prefer and I will make sure to do that for you. You also may choose topics to suit your interests and needs. If you prefer to talk about food, your love life ;-) …whatever you like is ok. I’m here to help you to be comfortable and accurate when using English and French if that interests you. My students say I'm friendly and patient. I find creative ways to give you the practice you need to use a new language in real-life situations. Practice makes perfect! We can use videos, games, role-plays and much more. I am an enthusiast of fitness and health. I can tell you about living in Costa Rica, doing tai chi, or choosing the healthiest foods if you like! Deeper discussions are fine if you can handle it. I have a Masters of Education degree and Advanced diploma in teaching English as a Second Language and have enjoyed teaching individual and group classes online and in-person for many years. I hope to continue for many years to come and look forward to meeting YOU, my newest student.

I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have been an educator in the Ann Arbor area since 2000. That is when I graduated from the... University of Michigan. Later, I obtained a Master’s Degree in school counseling from Eastern Michigan University. In the years that followed, I taught English, theater, Spanish, and spent ten years as a high school counselor in Ann Arbor. Now, I live near Ann Arbor with my wife, daughter, son, and our dog, Pomzilla. We say he is part Husky, part Pomeranian, and part Godzilla! That's how we made his name. I have lived in the US and Spain and have traveled to South America and Europe. Someday I would also love to visit Asia, Australia, and Africa. When I can, I love to go to baseball games in Detroit, Michigan. I would love to talk to you about your own travels! Or we could discuss where you live, your job, your hobbies, your amazing family, your cute pets, or your future plans. My teaching style is fun and I focus more on conversational English. I love to joke and have fun in lessons. I would also love to work with you on your writing. I used to do a lot of creative writing. I wrote and published a poem, two plays, a screenplay, and a novel. If you are interested, check out my website at www.endinginangels.com . If you have material from school or somewhere else we could work on that together. I am flexible and want to help students however I can. I know that learning a new language can be scary. One group I know I can really help are people applying to universities. You DO NOT have to be in this group to meet with me. This is just one area I know a lot about. Harvard! Stanford! Yale! Duke! Northwestern! And my personal favorite, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor! Go blue! I have helped hundreds of my students gain admission to these highly selective universities as well as dozens of other schools across the US and around the world, from Ivy League to less selective state schools to community colleges with open admissions! We can discuss the application process, examine possible essay prompts, write/revise essay drafts, and explore strategies for maximizing chance of admission into universities, and look at financial aid. If you are working on SAT or ACT preparation, I can help you with this too! I helped hundreds of students with their college applications. Many of them would go on to the University of Michigan or Washtenaw Community College in our city, while others went to Oregon, UCLA, MIT, Brown, Ohio State, and many other great colleges. I believe I can use my expertise to help you improve your writing and conversation skills. We can talk about applying to universities, or about your trip to Australia last year, or your apartment in Paris, or your job as a scuba diver, or movies, or your grandmother, or your dog, or your future trip to Mars! I can’t wait to meet you!

Hello World of ESL learners I'm an experienced ESL, ELA, TEFL and TESOL independent teacher and transmedia writer. I began ESL teaching in... 1990, and returned to the field in 2018. I've a decade of combined teaching experience. My CV is a short read: I've made it a 1-pager: it's concise and comprehensive and I strongly suggest you take a look at it to get a comprehensive view on what I bring to the table as an ESL educator. It's important to stress my approach to ESL instructing is learner-centric, so you may have heard many utter this phrase, but is it just semantics, hyperbole to stand out in a crowded space? Well let me elaborate a little bit on learner-centrism as the core value of my approach to ESL teaching: The banking system of education really came into its own in the post-WW2 world and the west began to slowly eliminate the Humboldtian system from its mainframe. My preference is to mimic as far as is practical the Humboldtian and Classical Liberal Arts systems and I incorporate insights from the rich field of ESL research and development. My experience illustrates that organic modes of learning have yielded the best results with reference to capacity, fluency and confidence. Gardner's 'Theory of Multiple Intelligence Centres' is as influential as the aforementioned educational systems, and I include insights learned from the field of ESL development, research and trends. Today English is to the digital age what Latin was to the 3rd century. It is the Lingua Franca of the world and presents an exciting development in the history of languages and human beings communicating from and to almost every corner of the world. It's a great time to be learning English. There's never been a better time to be an ESL learner or teacher, especially if you're a serious lover of languages and language learning! My library of content contains top tier course materials, e.g. programmes developed by Cengage Learning and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. All my course materials conform to global benchmark standards such as the Common Core State Standards (CCSS-USA), International English Language Testing Standards (IELTS - UK, Australia) and the International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE-UK). My capacities include testing and assessment according to benchmark standards globally recognised such as the aforementioned and also CEFR – Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Course materials are included in the fees. I deliver my lessons via Zoom, Zhumu or Voov: all three teaching/meeting apps enable learners to join the meeting room right from your browser for your convenience Best, Desiree Lourens

Hello there, My name is Joanne Greene, I am 37 years old and live in sunny Johannesburg, South Africa. I am a native English speaker. I have... completed a number of certificates, namely Business to Business Marketing, my International TEFL Certificate, a Cambridge Assessment Certificate through Future Learn and I also have practical experience teaching English online. My background is tutoring and educating Health Care Professionals around the country, this involved me facilitating many training sessions in a classroom set up. I currently tutor two children aged 8 and 11 four times a week for the last two years. The younger one Catherine started on intermediate and has now moved up to upper intermediate and Josh started on upper intermediate and is now on advanced. I have also been teaching a 55 year old Bulgarian lady for the last 3 years. Vania started on elementary and has now moved through intermediate to upper intermediate level. My methods for teaching is mostly standard for all ages and what is important to note that every student is on their own journey, has different goals and learns at their own pace. It is important as a teacher that I can identify individual needs and provide the best tailor made learning experience for them. Firstly it is important that my students do most of the talking, this helps me to check the understanding of the vocabulary, pronunciation and sentence construction. Secondly I try to elicit as much information from my students to ensure maximum learning takes place. Another one of my very important teaching methods is self-correction and what I mean by that is if a student answers incorrectly I won't jump in immediately and give the correct answer, I would rather give a hint or clue. Most of the time the student is able to answer correct the second time around. This is very important because this is really where learning takes place, when a student discovers the answers themselves. I also believe very much in positive reinforcement, focusing on tasks completed successfully and accurately helps students to stay motivated and builds their self-confidence. Lastly it is vitally important that the vocabulary learned is retained in long term memory and how I do that is by giving the students stories and sentence to write using the vocabulary learnt and by also looking at the vocabulary in different context. I implement all these methods with TPR. I use various media and teaching materials to teach my students, some of which I have created myself such as printouts and flashcards. Some websites that I use are Live Worksheets.com, Grammar Monster.com, Breaking News English.com and ESL Flashcards.com. Through my teaching experience I have learnt the importance of and mastered my skills in building rapport with my students. Always been punctual for lessons, doing sufficient lesson preparation and creating content that I know they will find interesting and informative. Having integrity - I strive to do what I say I will do and at the time I said I would do it.
