Hi everyone!! I am Stefania, an enthusiastic and curious 33-year-old Language Teacher who lives in Bologna. I adore travelling, cooking and... getting to know new people, languages and cultures. I am a passionate and charismatic communicator who really enjoys storytelling and sharing. I would define my teaching philosophy to be personalised, interactive and based on posing questions and fostering critical thinking rather than on giving answers in the first place. I believe in the importance of repetition and focus on all 4 areas of competence, for example choosing a subject and adressing it through listenings, writing of texts, readings, speaking activities (role plays & simulations) so that the vocabulary and language structures can be dealt with under different perspectives and repeated / practiced and corrected enough to be memorised in authentic contexts. The use of visuals (images, colors, video etc.), games, mind maps and summary tables can also extremely helpful. Last but not least, I will concentrate on specific requests, needs, strenghts, weaknesses etc. and we will be able to define specific objectives together while having a precise idea of how long it will take to reach our goals. I am an English (ESL) and Italian (ISL) teacher working at a multinational company operating in the language learning market, with training... centers all over the world. I have earned a Master's Degree in Pedagogy from the Faculty of Education at the University of Bologna and I have several years of experience in education, working in different fields and holding various positions, such as school tutor, pedagogue, and teacher at a language learning center, working with adults (e.g. Corporate/Business English) and children/teenagers at public/private schools (from pre-school to high school). I have also studied in France (Universitè Paris X), USA (Vassar College, NY), experiences that have led me to have a high command of English and French. During my university years, I also participated in pedagogical research projects abroad, in particular in Sweden and New York, to study different educational approaches with pre-school children. Thanks to these experiences I have developed a pedagogical method that can be adapted to the specific needs of adults and children, helping them to find the learning method that best suits their necessities. My methodology is based on learning by doing, i.e. learning through action: the student is placed in the center of the learning process, in a context in which they will be led to put into practice the skills they have acquired, even in the case of beginners, through a real immersion in the English/Italian language. Lessons are conducted entirely in English to allow the students to strengthen their speaking, reading, and listening comprehension skills since the very beginning of the course. My lessons are tailored to the specific needs of the students and the material I use is diverse, stimulating, and interactive. I use Cambridge material, especially for the preparation of certifications, as well as online resources such as articles from international newspapers, and multimedia material including videos and interactive games.
