Hi, my name is Anne-marie and my native language is Afrikaans. I’m also fluent in English as my second language. I love the outdoors, cooking,... baking, and creating crocheted bags. For the past four years, my family and I have been staying in Africa, first Mozambique and now Malawi the warm heart of Africa. Before moving to Africa, I worked as a Business Analyst for one of South Africa's leading banks for about 11 years, and then as a Short Term Insurance representative at a broker's office for almost 8 years. I obtained various qualifications in the financial industry, as well as completed my certificates in Health & Safety, and Environmental management. I believe that knowledge can never be taken away from you. I am TEFL accredited and I have been homeschooling my daughter for the past four years, teaching English and Afrikaans, together with all the other school subjects. As a non-native English speaker, I understand the difficulties and challenges one may experience with learning a second or foreign language. I also understand the nervousness it brings along as you may feel self-conscious about your accent when speaking the new language. However, in Afrikaans, we have a saying “probeer is altyd die beste geweer”, meaning that trying is always your best weapon.
