What our teachers offer
Greek tutor with 6 years of experience
Hello! My name is Venetia and I am a Greek tutor the last 6 years. I speak Greek, English and some Italian. My degree in Classics allows me to teach both Modern and Ancient Greek, Latin and History. I've been teaching since 2013 to children of all levels and the last 2 years to people of all ages online.
As for my teaching approach, it depends from many factors, such as the age, the level or the goals of each student. I do not recommend any student just have a book as a guide for studying. Most of the time I provide you with selfmade material taken from books, videos or websides. I also assign homework in order to revise the things learnt if of course the student agree with that.
As a person who likes learning new languages, I can recognize the difficulties especially while someone is at the beginning. The most important of all is to be patient and follow the right steps. As you may know, it is all about practice and experience.
Feel free anytime to contact with me and discuss your goals.
Looking forward to meeting you online.
Venetia S.

What our students say
Unlike in other platforms, all our teachers are manually verified by our professional team. Trust in the experiences of our students.
I am Yora, a self-employed English tutor. I have been working with adults searching for tailor-made English totorials or/and flexible learning schedule since 2013. The lessons I offer are pretty much focussed on good communication and natural learning in a modern way, i.e. with using IT everywhere we can.
My methods
I am a proponent of learner-centred approaches and methods which are non-directive and rely on learners’ intrinsic motivation. They usually learn a foreign language because they need it for their work, study, travel, etc.. At the same time, when they do it in an enjoyable manner, in accordance with their nature, interests, and style, and with opportunities to choose their activities and learning materials themselves, it is also intrinsically motivated learning.
In professional terms, I try to creatively implement ideas and methods from approaches such as Direct one, Natural Learning, Democratic Education, and in particular Suggestopedia, Montessori pedagogy, Summerhill and Sudbury Schools.
In practical terms, it may mean providing learner colleagues with choices and often asking them what they want to do, and whether they want to do one or another task. For instance, they can choose whether to use a student's book or not, and if yes, to choose among at least two alternatives. My primary focus is LEARNING, and I encourage the colleagues to be active and increasingly independent learners to the point they can confidently manage their own language learning themselves. Of course, efficient communication and IT are natural components of my tutorials because they are part of life.
So my pillars are:
1. Reliance on the intrinsic motivation (self-driven and self-determined learning); my role is to be learner's guide, to facilitate their learning, and encourage their independence;
2. Good communication;
3. eLearning (IT as inherent component);
4. Creativity and art.
What my students will learn
Firstly, my learner colleagues will achieve their learning goals, be they to cover a relevant student's book material necessary for passing an English level test, or to advance with their language command in areas they want or find necessary for their work, travel, study, etc., in a rather tailor made manner.
Secondly, my learner colleagues will learn to become more independent English learners. As the language is everywhere nowadays, there are countless accessible learning options, and it is usually a matter of motivation, knowing how to learn, and good self-management to go as far as they need in it
My teaching experience
My English teaching career started in private language centres in Sofia in 2013. I have been working independently as an online English tutor since 2015.. Among my students, there have been from pre-school children (with the youngest one aged four) through teenagers to adults just before retirement. However I have specialized in and feel most comfortable tutoring English to adults. Currently, my online learner colleagues are usually white-collar workers and pink-collar ones investing in their English skills for the sake of their career.
Apart from it, I have been in the field of learning for almost thirty years starting with my university studies in education, and then focusing on non-formal learning (outside school) and lifelong learning. The latter covers seven years as a professional in staff qualification and career guidance in National Institute for Education in Sofia, as well as fourteen years as an independent expert for the European Commission under their programmes related to education, lifelong learning, youth, and European Citizenship.

In recent years I have worked as an Academic Director at a Language School in northern Spain. My job duties there included designing intensive Spanish & English courses for beginners’, intermediate and advanced levels, as well as teaching both on-site and via Skype. This constant interest has allowed me to become familiar with techniques and tools that are essential in today´s second language learning, such as the materials used by the Cervantes Institute and the most renowned publications and blogs in the field of language teaching. Most particularly, I have made extensive use of audiovisuals and creative writing activities in order to develop consistent, effective courses.
As an on-line teacher, I have steadily used different technology applications in language learning. My tasks as a teacher included setting homework and giving feedback to my students, according to their needs, on a regular basis, as well as keeping accurate register of their attendance and progress.
Graduated in Hispanic Philology and Masters in Applied French, I have always kept up with my teaching training and have recently completed a Cambridge CELTA course for English teachers This further training has provided me with the familiarity to different teaching methodologies, which have proven to be extremely useful in my classes.
My hobbies: art cinema, hiking, reading and watching and playing basketball.

I wanted to refresh and improve my Spanish and I contacted Inigo because he 's certified in luinguistic. Inigo is very patient, professional and helpful. He provides well structured lessons, in a very friendly and good atmosphere which is really favorable for learning a foreign language. The lesson material is built around several support such as text, audio, video, etc. You can't be bored and it's nice to switch between the different materials along the hour. He's also fluent in French and English so he can switch from a language to another for any explanation if needed. I really enjoy my lessons with him and I definitely recommand him!

Hello! I would love to help you improve your knowledge of Danish. I am a new Danish teacher, but as a teacher in the language `music´ I have been working for several years. I am an organist with more than 20 years of experience. I teach choirs for children and adults and I give private piano lessons to both younger and older people. I am very interested in languages and I think that my experience in teaching music can be very fruitful as a Danish language teacher. I recently did an intensive course as a student in Dutch via Skype and I think it works out very well. You are making progress very fast and it is so flexible. I look forward getting to know you and to hear about your wishes and your goals.

Hello! My name is Andrei, and I'm a professional theater director and educator from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. I teach theater all over the world - in Europe and the USA, and I teach Russian online for anyone who studies Russian and loves Russian culture.
Learning and teaching languages is my passion. As a theater director, I interact with Russian language and Russian literature on daily basis, so, when teaching Russian, I strive to share my love of it and spread my knowledge.
No less than Russian, I love English, which allows me to communicate with the world. In 2018, I won a Fulbright competition and as a Fulbrighter and Visiting Scholar I taught Russian theater techniques at two American universities - The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and The University of Illinois at Chicago. This experience helped me improve my spoken English and convinced me that language is a powerful tool for cultural exchange.
Qualifications & Experience
As a tutor, I've been teaching Russian online for about 2 years. During this time I've taught around 50 students - from beginners to advanced. Among my students I have had an American military pilot, an American embassy officer in Kazakhstan, dozens of college students, and others. I've gained some experience in diagnosing student problems and finding effective tactics to improve their skills.
As a person who was trained a lot in voice and speech class during my studies in the Saint-Petersburg State Theater Arts Academy, I can also help you significantly improve your pronunciation.
Teaching Approach
I believe that it's not enough to learn grammar and vocabulary to master a foreign language. One has to be immersed into a real language, a language people really speak, which is always different from those versions we encounter in various textbooks.
On the other hand, it seems to me important to show students higher examples of the Russian language - the literary language. It's essential to know which speech sounds good and to distinguish it.
I mainly rely on conversational practice. However, as to their homework, I strongly recommend students to listen to Russian speech using various videos and podcasts, and I give them four special techniques for working with these types of materials. I firmly believe that listening can create the basis for future communication skills. There's no doubt that children begin to speak imitating the speech of their parents.
During my lessons I use "Russian in Exercises" written by S.A. Khavronina and A.I. Shirochenskaya - a book published in 2014, which became a bestseller among those who teach Russian as a foreign language, "53 Models of Russian Grammar" by T.M. Dorofeeva and M.N. Lebedeva, various exercises, tables and games, as well as interviewing and retelling.

Hi, My name is Ayşegül. I have graduated from Hacettepe University the department of English Language Teaching. I'm an English teacher in a private institution now. I can teach both English and Turkish.
The first and foremost I want to start with one of my favourite quotation from Richard Henry Dana(!) (I'm not sure whether this quotation belong to him or not, but I liked it. :) “He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” First of all we as a teacher must improve ourselves about everything such as cultural knowledge, technology, best seller book, new novel etc. We should keep up with the time and try to understand our students.
Then we should know students’ interests, needs, backgrounds and their level of English / Turkish. If we know the aforementioned things, it would be more easy for us to decide what kind of materials we can use to attract their attention. Also, one of the key point is that we should motivate the students to learn. As a teacher we should teach our students why they learn the language/grammar/vocabulary etc. rather than just memorization. Regarding teaching method, we can use student centered methods. We should use examples from the real life and they can broaden students’ knowledge. Also using examples from the real life, help students to internalize the examples. I strongly believe that we should make our students acquire the language from all aspects including reading, listening, writing and speaking.
All in all, as a teacher we have lots of things to do. One of the most important responsibilities of us is to help students to understand that they have the enough power and capacity to learn a language if they are decided enough.

As a complete beginner, I am very lucky to have Aysegül as my Turkish tutor. Learning from her is like being in Turkey with a polite, patient and knowledgeable guide. Aysegül is tremendously understanding and always encouraging. Oftentimes, she will ask me a question in Turkish, and due to my baby-level skills in the language, I'll often give her a blank, clueless stare. This does not bother her. She never judges or becomes annoyed at my lack of skills. She just smiles and asks me again or gives hints in English to get me to understand what is being said. Then I don't feel bad or foolish. The thing I like about her immersive approach is this is what foreigners will encounter when in Turkey. If you are serious about learning Turkish, you must speak Turkish most of the time. In order to learn the language, you must listen - and respond - in the language you want to learn. This is her approach and I love it, even if I look like a clueless potato when she asks me questions. Most of the lessons with Aysegül are structured in an immersive way and it is ideal. Since I am not in Turkey, talking with her regularly is the next best thing. Plus, she will kindly correct me when I make a mistake (unlike many of the tremendously polite Turkish population). Her lesson plans are highly structured, logical and abundant. She will go through the materials slowly with you until you understand it. She is always willing to answer questions without annoyance or judgment. After my first lesson, she sent me a ton of materials at no extra charge and without me asking for it. One was a really cool program which helps you learn vocabulary. 100% generous! Aysegül is one of the hardest working and helpful people I have encountered. She is generous to a fault, and despite me trying to compensate her for the extra free hour of time she spent on tutoring me, she refuses any additional payment. (I'll find a way to compensate her, though, just wait!) I am positive your experience will also delight you, so give her a try. You will learn great amounts of Turkish in no time at all. I look forward to many more lessons with her as long as she will allow me to be her eager student.
