OnlineFrançais, Nederlands and English - Practice is the Key
Hi!
My name is Martinus,
I grew up in the Netherlands where I've been raised bilingually (french from my mother and dutch from my father and school). After primary school I moved to Geneva where I obtained my high school maturity diploma.
I went back to the Netherlands to study International Development (social sciences). During that time I got the chance to teach french to a class of international Master students. Later on I continued teaching students online which has been a very enjoyable and enriching experience (for more than 3 years now; check out the feedback (in dutch mainly): https://www.super-prof.nl/tweetalig-opgevoed-vwo-behaald-franstalig-zwitserland-bachelor-sociale-wetenschappen-wageningen.html ).
From my experience, the best way to learn the language is to be challenged and pushed a little out of your comfort zone. Therefor, depending on your level, I will mainly be teaching in an understandable and interactive way in French, Dutch or English.
Schools often focus on theory, which of course is a necessary foundation, but the most fun and enjoyable part is the practice, the actual talking which also helps the language to settle and helps to put the theory into a relevant context.
Together we will set up a schedule that will be shaped according to your needs and wishes. I can adapt to school/theory books or create a lesson on demand.
I hope to hear soon from you :)
Friendly greeting,
Martinus
Martinus V.

Hello! My name is Andrei, and I'm a professional theater director and educator from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. I teach theater all over the world - in Europe and the USA, and I teach Russian online for anyone who studies Russian and loves Russian culture.
Learning and teaching languages is my passion. As a theater director, I interact with Russian language and Russian literature on daily basis, so, when teaching Russian, I strive to share my love of it and spread my knowledge.
No less than Russian, I love English, which allows me to communicate with the world. In 2018, I won a Fulbright competition and as a Fulbrighter and Visiting Scholar I taught Russian theater techniques at two American universities - The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and The University of Illinois at Chicago. This experience helped me improve my spoken English and convinced me that language is a powerful tool for cultural exchange.
Qualifications & Experience
As a tutor, I've been teaching Russian online for about 2 years. During this time I've taught around 50 students - from beginners to advanced. Among my students I have had an American military pilot, an American embassy officer in Kazakhstan, dozens of college students, and others. I've gained some experience in diagnosing student problems and finding effective tactics to improve their skills.
As a person who was trained a lot in voice and speech class during my studies in the Saint-Petersburg State Theater Arts Academy, I can also help you significantly improve your pronunciation.
Teaching Approach
I believe that it's not enough to learn grammar and vocabulary to master a foreign language. One has to be immersed into a real language, a language people really speak, which is always different from those versions we encounter in various textbooks.
On the other hand, it seems to me important to show students higher examples of the Russian language - the literary language. It's essential to know which speech sounds good and to distinguish it.
I mainly rely on conversational practice. However, as to their homework, I strongly recommend students to listen to Russian speech using various videos and podcasts, and I give them four special techniques for working with these types of materials. I firmly believe that listening can create the basis for future communication skills. There's no doubt that children begin to speak imitating the speech of their parents.
During my lessons I use "Russian in Exercises" written by S.A. Khavronina and A.I. Shirochenskaya - a book published in 2014, which became a bestseller among those who teach Russian as a foreign language, "53 Models of Russian Grammar" by T.M. Dorofeeva and M.N. Lebedeva, various exercises, tables and games, as well as interviewing and retelling.

Let me give you a feedback about my lessons with Andrei in English. I searched for a russian teacher almost 2 years ago, and I was most lucky to find 2 really good teachers with different specialties immediately. Apparently I was one of Andrei's first russian students, and I admire the patience he had with me at that time, because I knew so little in russian, that it must have been a pain with me. At that time I had studied 9 months, using books, audio files, podcasts and articles etc. But I knew I needed to talk to get fluid in russian. As I am over 50, it takes me some more time to learn something than it was during my school time. I can only imagine, how this must have felt to Andrei at our beginning. Andrei comes from the cultural sector, having been a director at a St. Petersburg theatre and a Lecturer to students there. In his intro he states very calmly and somewhat non-passionately, how much he loves the russian language. Believe me, the passion became visible and tangible vehemently later on. There was no theme, we could not touch together, and I feel honored to be instructed by such an intellectual gentleman. Andrei was quite demanding, and early on I had to write texts, which we later on worked through. I tend to write in complicated ways, and he regularly demanded from me to find and use the most common and simple way of expressing my thoughts. This helped me enormously, because I had started at the typical point to simply translate the phases I had built in German, my mother tongue. A translated sencence sounds translated, whereas a natively expressed sentence has the potential to be recognized as "almost russian" :-) As I said, I feel tremendously privileged to learn from Andrei, and I enjoy our lessons enormously, as can be seen from the 136 lessons to this date. I can recommend Andrei to anyone, who looks for more than the mechanics of the language, who enjoys the fire, seeks for context or loves to come up with totally unexpected questions. Andrei loves to see progress, and if you work on your personal progress, it is a pleasure to work with him. Thank you so much, Andrei!

Many teachers just offer grammar, but according to my ten years of tutoring experience, that is not enough. Apart from cultural context, we need to know how we learn to learn better. I've taken several courses with experts in the matter because it helps me to help the professionals I work with. It's not about being patient, it's about being right employing a teaching methodology for each individual because we all are in a budget and our need to speak proper is always urgent. I know that & I'll help you to achieve your goal as I've done with hundreds of students in the last decade. Learn more about my unique methodology booking a trial lesson now.

Hello my name is Lucia and I am a native Italian speaker.
I have a degree as an interpreter for English and French so I know how hard it may be to learn a foreign language. I work as a free-lance interpreter and private English and French teacher. I have a strong passion for languages which I have been studying for many years. I am studying Spanish now and always trying to improve my English and French knowledge. I am a friendly person and my lessons mainly focus on conversation. As a teacher I am very patient and I always propose tailor-made lessons with respect to your needs. I am really enthusiastic about being a teacher because this activity allows you to share your culture and habits with foreign people. Learning a language is also learning a new culture.

Hi everyone!
My name is Abigail Sosa. I'm a Mexican student living in Belgium at the moment. I study Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Ghent and I teach Spanish aside.
I started teaching Spanish almost 5 years ago and as a result of this, I fell completly in love with language education and speech.
I have worked with children, teenagers and adults (also students with ADHD of Autism) in groups of levels or in private classes. My teaching methods always vary depending of the student that I have because not everyone learns at the same manner nor at the same rythm; with some students you need to work slower and with others faster; some students are more visual, others are more auditory or others are more verbal. However, I always teach the four elements that are crucial in order to master a language which are: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
How do I do this?
With a previously planning of the class. This means choosing the activies, the topics or exercices to work during the class. They could be a video, a text or exercices of gramatica among others. Alongside we use, of course, a book: Aula Internacional. I share all the material via GoogleDrive.
My classes are very relaxed and I am very flexibel. The important thing is to enjoy what we are learning! I hope we see each other very soon, and please, don't hesitate to contact me in case you have more questions.
Greetings and a big hug dear future students,
Abi

Hi, my name is Ayşegül. I graduated from Hacettepe University in the department of English Language Teaching. I'm an English teacher in a private institution now. I can teach both English and Turkish.
First and foremost, I want to start with one of my favourite quotation from Richard Henry Dana(!) (I'm not sure whether this quotation belongs to him or not, but I liked it. :) “He who dares to teach must never cease to learn.” First of all, we as teachers must improve ourselves about everything such as cultural knowledge, technology, best seller books new novels etc. We should keep up with the times and try to understand our students.
Then we should know students’ interests, needs, backgrounds and their level of English / Turkish. If we know the aforementioned things, it would be easier for us to decide what kind of materials we can use to attract their attention. Also, one of the key points is that we should motivate the students to learn. As teachers we should teach our students why they learn language/grammar/vocabulary etc. rather than just memorization. Regarding teaching methods we can use student-centered methods. We should use examples from real life so they can broaden students’ knowledge. Also using examples from real life, help students to internalize the examples. I strongly believe that we should make our students acquire the language from all aspects including reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
All in all, as a teacher we have lots of things to do. One of our most important responsibilities’ is to help students to understand that they have enough power and capacity to learn a language if they are determined enough....

Hello, my name is Corinne and I am a qualified ESL English teacher from England. I have been teaching in classrooms and online for over 3 years and I have many satisfied students.
My lessons are student-centred and usually take place on Skype. I treat every student as an individual and tailor my lessons to meet their goals. I use a variety of text books and free online resources including exercises, articles and videos. Perhaps you struggle with grammar and sentence structure? Perhaps you need to practice English for a specific purpose, like understanding lectures, making phone calls at work, or travelling? Or perhaps you need a structured course so that you can learn English step by step?
Whatever you need, I’m here to help. I see it as my job to make you feel safe, build your confidence and make your lessons enjoyable. I look forward to hearing from you and to helping you on your path to speaking better English. Book your first lesson now and let’s get started.
