I am a 29 year old female, native English speaker from Cape Town, South Africa. I have residency in Indonesia. Before the Covid-19 Pandemic, I was a home school teacher to 4 children ages 2-6 years. I taught using the British International School Curriculum. I was involved in community out reach programs where I taught English as a second language to the local children on an island off the coast of Bali, Indonesia. Furthermore, I taught privately online to students age 3-8 years and subjects included, English as a second language, Math, Story time and Science.I am patient, fun, enthusiastic and creative individual who has over 10 years of teaching experience. I am passionate about teaching and find inspiration in witnessing the growth that children experience during my classes. After high school, in 2008, I worked at a play school and did part-time babysitting whilst applying through OVC agency for a live-in au pair position in the United States. My year in America broadened my mind through experiencing a new and different culture, which has contributed to the person I am today. On return to South Africa in 2010, I worked as an au-pair for children ages 2-10 years whilst studying my undergrad in Psychology through UNISA. In 2014, I decided to embark on a new adventure and to immerse myself in a new culture in South-east Asia. It was there that I taught English as a second language and fell in love with teaching. I returned home in 2015 to complete my post-graduate degree in education, to enable me to pursue a future career as a foundation phase school teacher. My time in Asia proved to myself that I am able to adapt easily to new environments and cultures, and improved my ability to improvise and take the positive in any given situation. Since then I have taught in Argentina, Columbia, India, France, England, Indonesia to name a few.I feel that my experience as an au-pair, home school teacher as well as home-room teacher at various schools and online has taught me the value of improvising, taking initiative and empowering young individuals to enable each child within my care to feel inspired and to know their own unique and individual strengths. My biggest commitment as a teacher is to teach children to know their worth and to instil self-confidence within each individual, so that they are able to realize their potential at an early age and carry it through to adulthood. I am patient and speak slowly and clearly to ensure that students understand the concepts before moving forward. I am hardworking and reliable and hope to be of utmost benefit to the students in my care. My hope is to share my passion in teaching English as a second language to ensure that students participate in lesson and have fun whilst learning.
