    The irregular German verb 'lassen'

    The verb 'lassen' (to let) has different meanings, e.g.: to allow, to tolerate, to do not hinder something,...

    Examples:

    • Er lässt sie passieren. - He lets them pass.
    • Sie lassen ihren Sohn abends nicht allein nach Draußen. - They don't let their son go outside alone in the evening.

    'Lassen' can also mean 'to leave'. 

    Example:

    • Ich lasse ich das Fenster offen, weil das Watter gut ist. - I leave the window open because the wether is nice.
